Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. The reporting she did included plenty of significant stories, including the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
